Uttar Pradesh: Bollywood Actor Rajpal Yadav is facing another financial setback after two of his properties in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, were put up for auction by the Central Bank of India. The properties are linked to an outstanding loan of more than ₹16.61 crore, with the online auction scheduled for September 9.
The properties include one located within Shahjahanpur city and another in a nearby village. The combined value of the properties identified for auction is estimated at around ₹3.19 crore. The bank has initiated the auction process as part of its recovery proceedings following a reported repayment default.
The loan was reportedly taken by Rajpal Yadav to finance his directorial venture, Aata Pata Lapata. After the repayment obligations were not met, the Central Bank of India reportedly took possession of the mortgaged properties and began steps to recover the outstanding amount.
The auction notice covers two separate properties. While their combined estimated value is around ₹3.19 crore, the reported outstanding loan amount is substantially higher, at approximately ₹16.61 crore.
The Central Bank of India, Mumbai, has issued the auction notices for the properties and scheduled an online bidding process for September 9. The action forms part of the bank’s recovery process against the outstanding loan.
The development has emerged while Rajpal Yadav is also dealing with a separate legal matter involving a cheque bounce case.
The proposed auction adds to the financial and legal difficulties currently surrounding the actor. If the properties are successfully sold through the auction, the proceeds would be used toward recovering the outstanding dues owed to the bank, subject to the applicable recovery process.
The case also highlights the financial risks that can arise when property is offered as security against large business or film-production loans and repayment obligations are not met.
The online auction of the two Shahjahanpur properties is scheduled for September 9. Potential bidders will need to follow the conditions and requirements specified in the bank’s auction notice.
Further developments will depend on the outcome of the auction and the subsequent recovery proceedings concerning the reported ₹16.61 crore outstanding loan.
