Noida’s Parthala Underpass DPR Sent to IIT Roorkee for Technical Approval

The proposed 710-metre-long, six-lane underpass beneath Parthala Flyover will cost around ₹92 crore and aims to reduce traffic congestion at one of Noida’s busiest junctions.

  • Noida Authority has sent the underpass DPR to IIT Roorkee for technical vetting.
  • The 710-metre project is estimated to cost approximately ₹92 crore.
  • Construction is expected to begin by December 2026, with an 18-month completion target.

Noida: The Noida Authority has taken another step towards developing a six-lane underpass beneath the Parthala Flyover, also known as the Parthala Signature Bridge. On Tuesday, 3 November 2026, the Authority sent the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the proposed infrastructure project to IIT Roorkee for technical vetting.

The project is aimed at reducing traffic congestion around the busy Parthala roundabout, where vehicles travelling between Noida, Greater Noida West and the FNG corridor frequently face delays.

The proposed underpass will stretch approximately 710 metres and is estimated to cost ₹92 crore. According to officials, the Authority is targeting December 2026 to begin construction. Once work starts, the project is expected to take around 18 months to complete. The next major step will be the appointment of a developer after IIT Roorkee completes its technical assessment of the DPR.

Confirming the development, Noida Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh said that the DPR had been forwarded to IIT Roorkee for technical evaluation. He added that the process of selecting a developer would begin after the institute submits its report and that construction work is expected to start soon.

The Parthala roundabout is an important traffic junction connecting multiple residential and commercial areas of Noida and Greater Noida West. It handles vehicles coming from Vikas Marg and the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Road, making it a key route for daily commuters.

Vikas Marg provides connectivity between Sectors 52 and 71 and Gaur Chowk in Greater Noida West. Meanwhile, the FNG corridor connects areas such as Sorka village and Chhajarsi Colony and provides access towards Ghaziabad, NH-9 and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

With traffic from several directions converging at the same junction, congestion has remained a concern, particularly during peak commuting hours.

The proposed underpass is part of the Authority’s efforts to improve traffic movement around the Parthala junction.

The existing 600-metre-long, six-lane Parthala Flyover was opened to traffic in 2023 to improve connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida West. While the flyover improved movement for commuters travelling along the elevated route, congestion around the roundabout and on the FNG Road has continued.

The new underpass is expected to provide an additional traffic route and help reduce pressure on the existing junction. Its effectiveness will depend on the final design, traffic movement arrangements and integration with the surrounding road network.

The immediate priority is to complete the technical evaluation of the DPR through IIT Roorkee. Once the assessment is received, the Noida Authority will initiate the process of appointing a developer to execute the project.

If the proposed schedule remains unchanged, construction could begin by December 2026, followed by an estimated 18-month construction period.

Once completed, the underpass is expected to improve connectivity around Parthala, ease traffic movement between Noida and Greater Noida West and provide commuters using the FNG corridor with an additional route through this busy junction.
