The deal highlights the continued interest in Alibaug’s property market, which has become a popular destination for luxury homes and second-home investments among affluent buyers.
The property is situated in Dhokawade village, Taluka Alibaug, in Raigad district. Along with the land, the transaction also includes two existing residential structures. Alibaug has increasingly gained attention as a second-home destination for buyers from Mumbai and other major cities. Its coastal location, access to holiday destinations and improving connectivity have contributed to demand for residential plots, luxury villas and agricultural land.
Several prominent personalities have invested in the region in recent years. In January 2026, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma reportedly purchased a land parcel measuring more than five acres in Alibaug for ₹37.86 crore.
Other notable transactions include Amitabh Bachchan’s property purchases in the A Alibaug development. In April 2024, the actor acquired a 10,000 sq. ft. plot for ₹10 crore. He subsequently purchased three adjoining plots covering 9,557 sq. ft. for ₹6.6 crore in October 2025.
Actor Kartik Aaryan also entered the Alibaug property market in September 2025, purchasing a 2,000 sq. ft. plot reportedly valued at around ₹2 crore at Chateau de Alibaug. Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, has also invested in agricultural land in the region, purchasing farmland in Thal village for ₹9.5 crore in February 2024.
The list of prominent investors in and around Alibaug also includes cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Ravi Shastri and Ajit Agarkar.
Interest in Alibaug is not limited to individual investors and celebrities. Several established real estate developers, including Oberoi Realty, Lodha Developers and Hiranandani Developers, have land holdings in the region.
The area’s appeal is supported by its connectivity with Mumbai. Road travel generally takes around three to four hours, depending on the starting point and traffic conditions. Alternatively, travellers can use the Ro-Ro ferry service between Mumbai’s Gateway of India and Mandwa Jetty, with the ferry journey taking approximately 45 minutes.
According to estimates cited by local property brokers, apartment prices in Alibaug range between ₹15,000 and ₹17,000 per sq. ft. Agricultural land is estimated at ₹3 crore to ₹5 crore per acre, while non-agricultural land may command ₹8 crore to ₹10 crore per acre. Actual prices vary depending on location, land-use permissions, connectivity and development potential.
