Suncity Avenue Gurugram Residents Protest Over Power Cuts, Block SPR Road

Gurugram: Suncity Avenue Gurugram Residents Protest after facing repeated electricity outages that they claimed had continued for several weeks. The demonstration took place on the South Peripheral Road (SPR) around midnight, where hundreds of residents gathered and blocked traffic.

The incident gained attention because the road is one of Gurugram’s busiest routes, and the blockade caused major traffic disruption while highlighting growing concerns over power supply in residential societies.

According to residents, frequent and unannounced power cuts have made daily life increasingly difficult. Families said the outages have disrupted children’s studies, affected senior citizens during hot weather, and created problems for professionals working from home.

Protesters also alleged that multiple complaints to the society management had not resulted in any lasting solution, prompting them to take their grievances to the streets.

Residents directed their frustration toward the society’s management, alleging that officials had failed to respond effectively despite repeated complaints. Many protesters demanded the resignation of the society manager, claiming that the administration had shown little urgency in resolving the ongoing electricity issues.

Demonstrators raised slogans and insisted that they would continue the protest until concrete action was promised. The protest reflected growing dissatisfaction among residents over what they described as a lack of accountability from the management.

After receiving information about the road blockade, police personnel from the SPR outpost, along with local administrative and electricity department officials, reached the location. Authorities initially appealed to residents to clear the road and restore traffic movement.

Officials later assured protesters that the matter would be examined seriously, appropriate action would be taken regarding the complaints against the society management, and efforts would be made to resolve the electricity problem as quickly as possible. Following these assurances, residents agreed to end the protest.

The blockade severely affected traffic on the South Peripheral Road, a major corridor connecting several parts of Gurugram. Since the route sees significant movement of commercial and heavy vehicles during nighttime, the protest quickly resulted in long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.

Police deployed additional personnel to manage the congestion and gradually restore normal traffic after the demonstrators dispersed.

Residents are now expecting the society management and concerned authorities to deliver a permanent solution to the recurring power supply issues. They have also sought greater accountability and better communication regarding electricity disruptions.

The administration has assured that the complaints will be reviewed and that necessary steps will be taken to address the power crisis. Residents say they will continue monitoring the situation and expect timely action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
