  • Around 20,000 sq. metres of unauthorized development was cleared.
  • Authority advised buyers to verify approved layouts before purchasing plots.

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) continued its action against Ghaziabad illegal colonies by demolishing unauthorized residential developments in Loni and Nawada on Thursday. The operation targeted colonies that were allegedly being developed without the required approvals or sanctioned layout plans.

The move is part of the authority’s ongoing campaign to curb illegal urban development and protect homebuyers from investing in unauthorized properties.

According to GDA officials, the Enforcement Zone-8 team demolished illegal constructions spread over nearly 20,000 square metres in Mirpur Hindu (Loni) and Sainik Vihar, Nawada. During the drive, authorities removed boundary walls, under-construction roads, and other unauthorized structures using bulldozers.

Around 60 to 70 illegally developed plots in Sainik Vihar were affected during the demolition. The operation was carried out under heavy police deployment to ensure law and order.

The demolition drive witnessed protests from some local developers and residents, resulting in brief tension at the site. However, GDA officials, with support from the local police, managed the situation and continued the operation without interruption. The authority stated that strict action would continue against colonies developed without approved layout plans or necessary permissions.

The latest demolition serves as a reminder that purchasing property in unauthorized colonies can lead to legal and financial risks. GDA’s enforcement campaign aims not only to stop illegal development but also to promote planned urban growth in Ghaziabad. The authority believes such action will discourage unauthorized plotting and improve compliance with development regulations.

The GDA has confirmed that its anti-illegal construction drive will continue across Ghaziabad in the coming weeks. Homebuyers and investors have been advised to verify whether a property has an approved layout plan, valid permissions, and other required approvals before purchasing a plot or home. Checking the legal status of a property beforehand can help avoid future disputes, demolition actions, and financial losses.
