GDA Starts Land Pooling for Ghaziabad Aerocity Township
The proposed Ghaziabad Aerocity township will span 231 hectares across three villages and feature commercial, institutional and mixed-use development near the upcoming cricket stadium.

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has started the land-pooling process for its proposed Aerocity-themed township near Raj Nagar Extension. The authority has issued notices seeking consent from farmers and landholders whose land has been identified for the project.
The proposed township will cover around 231 hectares across Morti, Ator and Mevla Agri villages. GDA had identified these three villages in April for the development. The project is important for the area because it is planned close to the proposed international cricket stadium and is expected to bring a mix of commercial, institutional and residential-related facilities to the region.
Under the land-pooling model, landowners will not receive direct monetary compensation for handing over their land. Instead, GDA plans to return 25% of the developed plots to the landowners based on the land contributed to the scheme.
GDA Secretary Vivek Mishra said farmers and other landholders have been given 15 days to provide their consent. Once the consent process is completed and the required land is obtained, the authority plans to develop the township in phases. The first phase could cover approximately 50 hectares.
The Aerocity-themed development is planned as a mixed-use township with facilities such as malls, shopping complexes, accommodation and institutional establishments. Its location near the proposed international cricket stadium is expected to strengthen the area’s commercial potential.
The township will also be located near Harnandipuram, another major GDA development planned across about 521 hectares. Officials said residents of the proposed Aerocity township could also benefit from the shopping and other facilities planned in Harnandipuram.
Alongside the township, GDA has proposed a major road project along the Hindon River. The authority plans to construct a six-lane embankment road designed to improve connectivity while providing protection to the proposed cricket stadium and Aerocity township against potential flooding from the river.
The estimated cost of the road project is around ₹185 crore. According to officials, the GDA board approved the project’s funding pattern on August 21.
The immediate priority for GDA is to complete the 15-day consent process with farmers and landholders. After securing the required land, the authority intends to begin phased development, with the first phase potentially covering around 50 hectares.
The proposed township, cricket stadium and Harnandipuram project could collectively reshape the development landscape around Raj Nagar Extension, while the planned embankment road is expected to support both connectivity and flood protection.
