PM Awas Yojana: 10,000 Homebuyers to Get Flats in Ghaziabad

The Ghaziabad Development Authority has set an August 30 deadline to complete PMAY projects, aiming to hand over nearly 10,000 affordable housing flats to beneficiaries by September.

  • Around 10,000 PMAY flats to be handed over in September.
  • GDA sets August 30 deadline for all ongoing housing projects.
  • Madhuban Bapudham registrations begin for 856 completed flats.

Ghaziabad: Nearly 10,000 beneficiaries of the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) are expected to receive possession of their affordable housing flats in September, as the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has directed that all ongoing PMAY projects be completed by August 30.

The move is aimed at speeding up the delivery of affordable homes across the district and ensuring eligible families receive their long-awaited houses without further delay.

The directive covers both GDA-developed housing schemes and private residential projects under the PMAY (Urban) programme. Together, they account for around 10,000 flats, making it one of the largest affordable housing handovers planned in the region this year. Timely completion is expected to benefit thousands of families waiting for possession.

To assess the progress of the projects, GDA Secretary Vivek Mishra recently chaired a review meeting with authority officials and representatives of private developers. During the meeting, 11 approved private housing projects were examined.

According to the review, five projects are almost complete, while three projects have applied for completion certificates. GDA officials will inspect these developments before issuing the certificates, and developers will be required to address any shortcomings identified during inspections.

The remaining projects, along with GDA’s own housing schemes, have been instructed to finish all construction and infrastructure work by August 30.

GDA Secretary Vivek Mishra said all projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) within the authority’s jurisdiction must be completed by August 30 so that possession of the flats can be handed over to beneficiaries during September. He also stated that the authority is closely monitoring progress to ensure deadlines are met.

The GDA has further warned contractors and officials that negligence or unnecessary delays in construction work will invite strict action.

Among the completed developments, 856 flats at Madhuban Bapudham are now being registered in the names of eligible beneficiaries. Once the registration process is completed, possession letters will be issued to the allottees.

Apart from Madhuban Bapudham, GDA is constructing PMAY flats at Dasna, Pratap Vihar, Noornagar, and Niwari. These five GDA projects together comprise around 4,000 flats, while private developers are building nearly 6,000 additional units, many of which are already nearing completion.

With the August 30 completion deadline now in place, GDA will continue inspecting ongoing projects and processing completion certificates wherever required. If construction progresses as scheduled, beneficiaries of both GDA and privately developed PMAY projects are expected to begin receiving possession of their flats throughout September, marking another significant step in expanding affordable housing in Ghaziabad.
