CAQM Flags 62 Pollution Norm Violations Across NCR During June Inspections
CAQM identified 62 pollution norm violations across construction sites, industries, and diesel generator units in NCR, stressing stricter enforcement and better coordination to improve regional air quality.

- 62 pollution violations detected across NCR between June 14 and 30.
- Industrial units accounted for the highest number of violations.
- Seven construction sites allowed to resume work after compliance checks.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has identified 62 violations of pollution control norms during inspections carried out across the National Capital Region (NCR) between June 14 and June 30. The inspections covered construction and demolition (C&D) sites, industrial units, and diesel generator (DG) sets. The findings are significant as authorities continue efforts to improve air quality and ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations across the region.
The violations came to light after the CAQM Enforcement Task Force (ETF) reviewed 173 inspections conducted by flying squads during the second half of June. These included 15 inspections at construction and demolition sites, 91 inspections in industrial clusters, and 67 inspections related to diesel generator sets. Of the total violations, 31 were found in industrial units, 24 involved diesel generator sets, and seven were reported at construction and demolition sites, making industries the largest source of non-compliance during the inspection period.
During its 134th Enforcement Task Force meeting, the CAQM reviewed enforcement actions taken following the inspections. Officials stated that all actionable cases identified in the industrial, construction, and diesel generator sectors had been addressed by the concerned agencies. The commission also emphasized the importance of stronger enforcement, improved coordination among government departments, and strict adherence to pollution control norms to reduce air pollution across NCR.
The review also confirmed that seven construction and demolition sites were allowed to resume operations after authorities verified that they had complied with environmental requirements. Of these, five resumption orders were issued in Haryana and two in Uttar Pradesh. The inspections highlight the government’s continued focus on monitoring pollution sources before the onset of the high-pollution winter season.
CAQM is expected to continue regular inspections and enforcement drives across NCR to ensure industries, construction projects, and other pollution-generating activities follow prescribed environmental standards. Authorities have indicated that strict monitoring and timely action against violations will remain a priority to improve air quality in the region.
