Indirapuram High-Rise Residents Seek Action on Encroachments, Transport and Fire Safety

• Residents want action against encroachments around residential societies and improvements in civic infrastructure.
• Fire safety upgrades and easier fire NOC procedures were among the major demands.
• A memorandum will be submitted to the district administration and other concerned authorities.

Ghaziabad: Residents of several high-rise societies in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, came together on Sunday to raise concerns over civic infrastructure, fire safety, encroachments and public transport. The meeting was organised under the Federation of Apartment Owners Associations (AOA) at ATS Advantage, where representatives from multiple societies discussed issues affecting residents across the area.

Representatives from Angel Mercury, Amrapali Village, Jaipuria Sunrise, Lotus Pond, Shipra Neo, Shipra Suncity, Shipra Shristi, Rajhans and ATS Advantage participated in the discussion. Residents said encroachments in and around residential complexes have become a persistent concern, while limited metro connectivity, inadequate city bus services and a lack of feeder services are creating transportation difficulties. The issues matter particularly for a densely populated high-rise neighbourhood where thousands of residents depend on shared civic infrastructure.

Fire safety emerged as another important issue, especially for older residential buildings. Residents called for modernisation of fire-fighting systems and sought a more streamlined process for obtaining fire NOCs. They also discussed the need for regular maintenance of ageing lifts and stronger enforcement of safety standards in societies that have been occupied for many years.

The meeting also covered several day-to-day civic problems, including traffic congestion, waterlogging, damaged roads, sewerage and drainage issues, low-hanging electricity wires and inadequate municipal infrastructure. Residents said they want to work with government departments to find practical solutions rather than address these concerns individually.

Federation secretary Avneesh Kumar said the residents had agreed to prepare a joint memorandum containing their key demands. The memorandum is expected to be submitted to the District Magistrate, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), Municipal Corporation, electricity department and Deputy Registrar. Kumar, who is also the AOA president of Angel Mercury, said the federation would seek a meeting with the administration to discuss the issues collectively.

Federation member Rohit Gupta, a resident of Shipra Neo and Shipra Suncity, said residents would also raise concerns related to the implementation of single-point UPPCL electricity connections, repairs and maintenance of ageing buildings, access to clean drinking water, sanitation and waste management.

Residents have additionally called for a dedicated policy covering the repair and repainting of societies that are more than 15 years old. They believe regular maintenance of buildings, lifts and essential safety systems is necessary to address the challenges associated with ageing high-rise infrastructure.

The federation plans to consolidate the concerns raised during the meeting into a memorandum and approach the concerned authorities. Residents are expected to seek an early meeting with officials to discuss encroachment removal, transport connectivity, fire safety, road and drainage conditions, electricity-related concerns and maintenance of older societies.
