GNIDA Gives Industrial Plot Allottees More Time to Complete Construction
After protests from entrepreneurs, the Greater Noida Authority will inspect industrial plots and grant additional time for eligible allottees, offering relief from cancellation notices issued last month.

- Industrial plot allottees may receive additional time after site inspections.
- Restoration process begins for 10 entrepreneurs facing cancellation.
- Entrepreneurs cite lack of basic infrastructure as the main reason for delays.
Greater Noida: In a major relief for industrial plot allottees, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has decided to consider granting additional time to complete construction instead of immediately cancelling allotments. The move comes after the Authority issued cancellation notices to around 16 industrial plot allottees last month for failing to complete construction and make their units operational within the prescribed timeline.
The decision is significant as it offers struggling entrepreneurs an opportunity to retain their plots and complete their projects.
Following objections from entrepreneurs, GNIDA constituted an inspection team to assess the status of construction at the affected sites. The team will verify whether construction work is in progress, evaluate the reasons behind the delays, and estimate the time required to complete the projects. Based on the inspection report, eligible allottees may receive an extension under the Authority’s restoration policy.
According to Senior Manager (Industries) Arvind Mohan, 10 entrepreneurs have already applied for restoration and inspections have begun, while six allottees are yet to seek relief and continue to face possible cancellation.
Greater Noida Authority CEO NG Ravi Kumar said an investigation team has been formed to examine each case individually before taking any final decision. Officials indicated that the restoration process will be based on the inspection findings to ensure genuine cases receive appropriate relief. The Authority aims to balance industrial development with compliance under its allotment rules.
Entrepreneur associations have welcomed the move but claim the issue extends beyond the 16 cancelled plots. They allege that more than 50 industrial plot owners in sectors such as Ecotech-11 have also received notices warning of possible cancellation. Industry representatives argue that delays were caused by the absence of essential infrastructure, including sewer lines and water pipelines, despite plots being allotted years ago.
They also point to construction disruptions caused by NGT restrictions, pollution control measures, and the monsoon season, which reduce the effective construction period each year.
The inspection process is expected to continue over the coming weeks, after which the Authority will decide on granting additional time to eligible allottees. Entrepreneurs are also urging GNIDA to extend the construction deadline to at least five years and improve basic infrastructure in industrial sectors before taking strict action against plot holders.
The final outcome of the inspections is likely to determine whether more allottees receive relief or face cancellation of their industrial plot allotments.
