Noida: Residents of Sikka Kimaantra Greens in Noida’s Sector 79 staged a protest on Saturday, August 22, raising concerns over what they described as inadequate basic amenities in the residential society. The residents alleged that problems related to drinking water, electricity, sanitation and maintenance have continued despite repeated complaints.
According to residents, the quality of water supplied in the society is a major concern. They claimed that the water is highly saline and unsuitable for regular consumption. Residents also alleged that power cuts occur several times a day, sometimes reportedly between 10 and 25 times, causing inconvenience to families living in the complex. They said these issues have continued for almost three years since the society became operational.
Residents also raised concerns about the maintenance and hygiene of common areas. They alleged that a fountain within the society has remained stagnant, with water accumulating in the area. According to them, the condition could contribute to mosquito breeding and increase the risk of diseases such as dengue. Some residents claimed that people living in the society have fallen ill and required medical attention.
The residents further alleged that they have already made multiple complaints to the builder and sought meetings with representatives of Sikka Group, but their concerns have not been resolved satisfactorily. One resident claimed that buyers had paid the full amount for their flats along with additional charges, but essential services and maintenance issues continue to remain a concern.
Residents said around 250 people are currently living in the society and that the problems are affecting the wider community. They said the continued lack of a satisfactory resolution left them with little choice but to organise a protest and publicly raise their grievances.
The residents are now seeking immediate action on water quality, electricity supply, sanitation and maintenance within the society. They are also calling for the builder to engage with residents and provide a clear plan for resolving the pending issues. Any response from Sikka Group or the concerned authorities would provide further clarity on the allegations and the steps being taken to address them.’
