GDA Secures 130 Hectares for Harnandipuram Township Phase-1

Ghaziabad Development Authority receives farmers’ consent to acquire land for the first phase of the Harnandipuram township near Raj Nagar Extension, with project launch expected within the next six months.

  • 130 hectares of land secured for phase-1 development

  • Registries completed for about 82 hectares so far

  • ₹2,384 crore township project planned near Delhi-Meerut Road

Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has taken a significant step toward developing the proposed Harnandipuram township, securing consent from farmers for around 130 hectares of land required for the project’s first phase.

According to officials, the acquired land will allow the authority to move forward with the initial stage of the large residential township planned near Raj Nagar Extension. The project is expected to be launched within the next five to six months once key approvals and planning processes are completed.

GDA Secretary Vivek Mishra confirmed that the authority has already received consent from farmers for approximately 130 hectares of land, which is sufficient for launching the first phase of the project.

“We have completed land registries for about 82 hectares, and the remaining registries for the consented land will be processed in due course,” Mishra said.

Officials said the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and township layout is currently underway. Once the documentation is finalised, it will be presented before the authority for approval in an upcoming GDA meeting.

After receiving the necessary approvals, the authority plans to begin the phase-1 rollout within five to six months, marking the first major development step of the township.

The Harnandipuram township is a large-scale development proposed across 521 hectares of land spanning eight villages:

  • Mathurapur

  • Shamsher

  • Champat Nagar

  • Bhaneda Khurd

  • Nagla Firoz Mohanpur

  • Bhovapur

  • Shahpur Nij Morta

  • Morta

The GDA started the process of acquiring land through direct purchase from farmers and landowners in February 2025. In May 2025, the authority decided to launch the first phase of the township using approximately 120–130 hectares.

Officials added that the majority of land required for the first phase will come from Mathurapur, Shamsher, and Nagla Firoz Mohanpur villages.

The total estimated budget for the Harnandipuram township project is around ₹2,384 crore. So far, the authority has already spent about ₹440 crore, most of which has gone toward purchasing land directly from farmers.

The proposed township will be located near Delhi-Meerut Road, offering good connectivity to key infrastructure projects in the region. The area is also close to several upcoming developments, including:

  • A planned international cricket stadium

  • An Aerocity-themed township

  • The Eastern Peripheral Expressway

With these developments nearby, the Harnandipuram township is expected to attract strong interest from both homebuyers and real estate investors in the Ghaziabad region.
