NGT Stops Illegal Construction in Noida’s Jaypee Wishtown

The National Green Tribunal told officials to halt unauthorized building work in Noida’s Sector 128 – home to the Jaypee Wishtown project. Locals claim Jaypee Infratech put up structures on ecologically sensitive land, including parts of the Yamuna flood zone as well as zones near the Okhla Bird Sanctuary, bypassing required approvals
A group including NGT head Justice Prakesh Shrivastava, judge Justice Sudhir Agarwal, along with specialist Afroz Ahmad said clearly in their ruling on April 21 – building on the Yamuna’s bed breaks environmental rules. They pointed out that Noida Authority didn’t respond to charges, just like Jaypee Infratech Ltd., despite being given plenty of chances
The River Ganga (Rejuvenation, Protection, and Management) Authorities Order from 2016 says the NGT should stop builders doing unauthorized work on the Yamuna floodplain. Besides this, the tribunal warned Jaypee Infratech Ltd., stating no construction violating environmental rules will be allowed before the upcoming hearing set for August 21.
This event shows why following nature rules matters a lot – particularly in fragile spots. Because the Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Yamuna floodplain need shielding, the NGT steps in. So far, it’s worked to block harm from city expansion
