Noida: Safety concerns have resurfaced in high-rise residential societies after a domestic helper was seriously injured in Greater Valley Sharnam Society located in Sector 107, Noida. The woman reportedly sustained severe head injuries after a large portion of plaster detached from an upper-floor balcony and fell onto the common area below.

According to residents, the incident took place in the L Tower of the society on Tuesday evening at around 7:30 PM. At the time of the accident, several residents, children, and domestic workers were moving around the common pathways and nearby park area. Eyewitnesses claimed that a heavy chunk of plaster suddenly broke off from the balcony of a flat situated on the eighth floor and crashed onto the ground.

The plaster allegedly struck a domestic helper who was passing through the area. Due to the impact, she suffered a deep head injury and collapsed immediately. Residents rushed to help her and arranged immediate medical assistance. She was later taken for treatment, where doctors reportedly administered 12 stitches to her head.

Many residents described the incident as a “major safety failure” and warned that the consequences could have been even more serious had children or multiple people been standing nearby.

Following the accident, several residents alleged that complaints regarding deteriorating plaster, seepage, and weak exterior portions of the building had already been raised with the Apartment Owners Association (AOA) and maintenance authorities in the past. Residents claimed that visible cracks and loose plaster in some sections of the towers had become common concerns over the last few years.

Some residents further alleged that a similar incident had reportedly occurred last year as well, but proper corrective measures and detailed structural inspections were not carried out after that episode. They questioned whether regular safety audits were being conducted for the ageing towers and exterior facades of the society.

Many residents said the safety of domestic workers, children, senior citizens, and visitors remains at risk if deteriorating portions of the building are not repaired quickly. Some have also demanded stricter monitoring of maintenance agencies and mandatory safety certifications for older residential societies.

As of now, no official statement has reportedly been issued by the society management or maintenance authority regarding the incident. Further investigation and inspection are awaited.
