Speaking on the initiative, Municipal Corporation Gurugram Mayor Rajrani Malhotra said that housing schemes launched by both the Central and Haryana governments are helping provide safe, dignified, and quality housing to economically weaker and needy families. She noted that these efforts are strengthening housing security and improving the quality of life for thousands of residents.

A major boost came under the Chief Minister’s Urban Housing Scheme (MMSAY), for which applications were invited from BPL families in 2023. In March 2026, a total of 2,709 eligible beneficiaries were allotted flats across various sectors and developed housing societies in Gurugram. The allotments have enabled thousands of families to move into permanent homes, reducing housing insecurity and supporting inclusive urban development.

Meanwhile, work under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 is progressing. Officials stated that application verification and eligibility assessments are currently underway. So far, Letters of Intent (LOIs) have been issued to 15 eligible beneficiaries. The remaining applications are being reviewed, and additional LOIs will be issued in phases as the verification process continues.
