GDA Approves 5,965 Sqm Land for Residential Projects in Indirapuram
The Ghaziabad Development Authority has approved several land-use changes, including residential development in Indirapuram and Harnandipuram to support housing demand and planned urban expansion.

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has approved multiple land-use changes aimed at supporting residential development and planned urban expansion in Ghaziabad. At its latest board meeting, the authority cleared a proposal to convert 5,965 square metres of land in Indirapuram’s Shakti Khand 4 from commercial to residential use.
The decision is significant for Indirapuram, where availability of developable land is limited and demand for housing remains high. Along with the Indirapuram proposal, the GDA board also approved the conversion of 24 hectares of agricultural land into residential use in its Harnandipuram scheme. The land is spread across Bhowapur and Shahpur Nij Morta villages.
A GDA official said the authority has been given powers by the Uttar Pradesh government to approve land-use changes for plots of up to 6,000 sqm. The official said the 5,965-sqm Indirapuram parcel falls within this limit and its conversion was approved to facilitate residential development in a prime area where land availability is relatively constrained.
The board also cleared a separate proposal involving 12 hectares of agricultural land in Hasanpur Lodha, Dhaulana tehsil, which will now be used for industrial purposes. The change has been made in line with the UP MSME Promotion Policy 2022. Meanwhile, two plots in GDA’s Indraprastha area, measuring 12,868 sqm and 2,020 sqm, will be developed as plotted housing instead of the previously proposed group housing projects.
Single-storey and multistorey construction will be permitted on these plots.
The board meeting also reviewed progress on the proposed international cricket stadium being jointly developed by GDA and the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). The state government had asked the authority to submit a feasibility assessment, financial justification and cash-flow details for the project.
According to the GDA official, the draft Memorandum of Understanding and feasibility report have received broad approval from the board and will be forwarded to the state government. Land acquisition for the stadium is also expected to involve a land-pooling mechanism.
