Mahagun Mywoods Residents Protest Over Water Shortage Issue

• Around 6,000 families across the society’s three phases have reportedly faced water-related problems for nearly a month.
• Residents cleared the road blockade around 5:30 PM after discussions with officials and later submitted a complaint against the builder.
• The Greater Noida Authority said its water supply up to the society’s underground reservoir has not been reduced.

Greater Noida: Residents of Mahagun Mywoods in Greater Noida staged a protest on Tuesday after water supply was disrupted, with the shortage becoming more severe over the previous two days. Angry residents blocked the society’s main road, demanding that the builder address the issue and restore basic services.

The protest continued for several hours as residents raised concerns over not only water availability but also other essential facilities. The Central Noida ACP and officials from the Greater Noida Authority reached the spot and held discussions with residents before the road was eventually opened at around 5:30 PM.

Residents said the water shortage has affected nearly 6,000 families living across all three phases of Mahagun Mywoods. According to residents, the problem has persisted for close to a month and became particularly serious late Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

Residents including BP Bansal, Ranjit Singh and Akash said the disruption has made it difficult for families to manage their daily needs. During the protest, entry of delivery workers and domestic helpers into the society was also temporarily restricted, adding to the inconvenience.

After the blockade was lifted, residents submitted a written complaint to the police against the society’s builder management. They have demanded registration of an FIR and action over the ongoing problems.

Bisrakh police station SHO Munendra Singh said officials reached the society and held discussions with representatives of the management. Following the intervention, the water supply was restored, according to the police.

The society management has also reportedly assured residents that additional manpower will be arranged to address the pending issues. It has promised repairs to two borewells, along with work related to the sewage treatment plant (STP), HT electrical panel and lifts.

According to the assurance given to residents, work to restore these facilities is expected to be completed between August 16 and September.

The Greater Noida Authority has maintained that it is supplying adequate water up to the society’s underground reservoir (UGR) and that there has been no reduction in the water supplied by the authority.

The authority has also raised concerns over what it described as misleading information being circulated about the water supply situation. A written complaint was submitted by the Senior Manager (Water) at Bisrakh Police Station, seeking registration of an FIR against the builder.

The dispute highlights the challenges residents can face when essential services such as water, electricity, lifts and sewage treatment systems are disrupted in a large housing society. With thousands of families living in Mahagun Mywoods, prolonged service interruptions can quickly affect daily life across the community.

The conflicting positions of residents, the builder and the Greater Noida Authority also make the matter significant. While residents have blamed the builder for inadequate facilities, the authority has said its own water supply up to the society’s reservoir remains unchanged.

The immediate priority will be the restoration of the affected facilities and ensuring a stable water supply for residents. The builder has committed to additional manpower and repairs to key infrastructure, while residents are seeking formal action through the police complaint.

The Greater Noida Authority’s complaint against the builder may also lead to further police proceedings. Residents are expected to watch the promised repair work closely and seek further intervention if the facilities are not restored within the stated timeline.
