Loom Solar Expands UP Footprint with Second Land Allotment in Meerut

• 33,400 sq. m. land allotted in Meerut for solar manufacturing

• Move supports India’s 500 GW non-fossil energy target by 2030

Loom Solar has secured a second land allotment from the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The newly allocated land parcel, spread across 33,400 square metres (approximately 8.25 acres), is located at the Industrial Model Land Corporation (IMLC) in Meerut.

The allotment was formalised at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, underlining the state government’s continued focus on attracting large-scale industrial investments.

This new development comes in addition to Loom Solar’s existing 7.5-acre facility in Kosi, Uttar Pradesh, where a 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing unit is currently being developed. With the addition of the Meerut facility, the company is significantly expanding its manufacturing footprint, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a key contributor to India’s domestic solar supply chain.

The upcoming Meerut unit will primarily focus on solar module manufacturing and is expected to house a high-throughput production line. While both the Kosi and Meerut plants will operate independently, they are strategically aligned to support Loom Solar’s long-term goal of achieving multi-gigawatt (GW) manufacturing capacity. This expansion is also aimed at meeting the country’s rapidly increasing demand for solar energy solutions.

India has set an ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030, and projects like these are seen as critical in reducing dependence on imports while strengthening domestic capabilities. Loom Solar’s expansion aligns closely with national initiatives such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, and Domestic Content Requirements (DCR), all of which aim to boost local manufacturing.

Speaking on the development, Amod Anand, Co-Founder and Director of Loom Solar, highlighted the importance of building strong domestic infrastructure for energy independence. He noted that the new facility in Meerut, combined with the Kosi plant, would provide the company with the capacity to meet India’s growing energy needs through indigenous manufacturing.

In addition to solar modules, Loom Solar is also focusing on expanding its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) portfolio. As renewable energy adoption accelerates, the need for efficient energy storage solutions has become increasingly critical for grid stability and reliable power supply. The Meerut facility is expected to offer flexibility for integrating BESS manufacturing into the company’s future plans, enabling it to evolve into a comprehensive clean energy solutions provider.

The dual-facility strategy across Kosi and Meerut is also expected to have a strong economic impact. Industry experts believe the expansion will generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities across sectors such as engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and ancillary industries. This, in turn, will contribute to regional economic development and skill enhancement.

The move further highlights Uttar Pradesh’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for industrial and infrastructure investments. With supportive policies, improving infrastructure, and proactive governance, the state has been attracting companies across sectors, particularly in renewable energy and manufacturing.
