Ayodhya: Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has once again made headlines in the property market after purchasing a 2.67-acre land parcel in Ayodhya for around ₹35 crore, according to reports. The deal reflects growing investor interest in the temple city, which has seen rapid real estate development in recent years.
The land was acquired from The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL) and is located close to the developer’s large luxury land project called “The Sarayu.” The transaction was reportedly handled by Rajesh Yadav, Managing Director of AB Corp Ltd, the company that manages many of Bachchan’s business investments.
Industry observers say the purchase highlights how Ayodhya is emerging as a key investment destination following massive infrastructure development and rising tourism.
Some important facts about the transaction include:
-
Land size: Around 2.67 acres
-
Estimated value: Approximately ₹35 crore
-
Location: Near the Sarayu luxury plotted development
-
Developer: The House of Abhinandan Lodha
-
Transaction handled by: AB Corp Ltd
The deal is considered one of the notable celebrity investments currently taking place in Ayodhya’s expanding property market.
This latest purchase is not Amitabh Bachchan’s first investment in the temple town. In fact, it marks his third property acquisition in Ayodhya through HoABL and his fourth plotted development investment with the company overall.
Over the past few years, the actor has gradually expanded his real estate presence in the city.
Previous investments include:
-
2024: Purchased a 10,000 sq ft plot worth about ₹14.5 crore in the Sarayu project.
-
2025: Bought a 25,000 sq ft land parcel for nearly ₹40 crore near the same development.
-
Latest purchase: 2.67 acres of land for about ₹35 crore.
Apart from Ayodhya, Bachchan has also invested in HoABL’s “Sol de Alibaug” project, where he purchased a 10,000 sq ft plot valued at around ₹10 crore.
These investments show how the actor is building a diversified luxury real estate portfolio across India.
Ayodhya has rapidly transformed into one of India’s most talked-about property markets, especially after the construction of the Ram Mandir. The city is witnessing major infrastructure upgrades and increasing tourism, which has boosted demand for land and real estate development.
Several factors are driving this property boom:
-
Development of Ayodhya International Airport
-
Improved road and rail connectivity
-
Growing religious tourism and hospitality projects
-
Expansion of residential and plotted land developments
Industry reports suggest that land prices in Ayodhya have been rising at an average annual rate of around 19%, with projections indicating growth could reach about 25% by 2035.
In prime locations such as the Sarayu riverfront and the Ram Mandir corridor, land values have reportedly increased more than 4.5 times between 2020 and 2025.
Because of this strong growth potential, Ayodhya is increasingly being viewed not only as a spiritual destination but also as a long-term real estate investment hub.
According to Abhinandan Lodha, Chairman of The House of Abhinandan Lodha, land ownership in a developing city like Ayodhya can become an intergenerational asset.
He believes such investments represent more than just financial returns. In India, land often carries emotional and legacy value—what many call “virasat,” or wealth passed down through generations.
With large-scale infrastructure projects underway and increasing government investment in the region, developers believe Ayodhya’s property market could continue to grow in the coming years.
Some observers believe Amitabh Bachchan’s interest in Ayodhya could also have a cultural dimension. The city holds deep historical and spiritual significance, and there have been earlier discussions about projects linked to the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust, named after the actor’s father and renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
While there has been no official announcement about future plans for the newly purchased land, the combination of heritage, faith, and long-term investment makes this development particularly noteworthy.
