Noida: Residents in Sectors 71 and 51 have raised fresh concerns over sanitation and garbage management, claiming that waste accumulation and irregular cleaning have created unhygienic conditions in their neighborhoods. Local Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) say the issue has persisted for months despite repeated complaints to the Noida Authority.
According to residents of Shiv Shakti Apartments in Sector 71, garbage is frequently seen piled up inside and around the society premises. Locals say the irregular waste collection not only spreads foul smell but also attracts stray animals, raising concerns about hygiene and public health.
Jagdish Yadav Jagga, president of the Shiv Shakti Apartments RWA, said residents have repeatedly informed sanitation workers and contractors about the issue. However, the problem continues.
He alleged that cleaning staff often visit the area but only carry out partial work before leaving, resulting in garbage remaining scattered in several spots across the sector.
Meanwhile, residents near Kendriya Vihar in Sector 51 have reported a similar situation. According to the RWA, garbage is being dumped near the sector’s boundary area, particularly around a green belt and a drain close to the Sector 52 metro station side.
Sharad Jain, secretary of the Kendriya Vihar RWA, said residents have been raising the matter with the Noida Authority for almost a year. He explained that waste is regularly thrown near the drain beside the green belt, creating unhygienic surroundings and increasing the risk of drainage blockage.
Residents also pointed out that several nearby fish and meat shops contribute to the garbage buildup in the area, which worsens sanitation problems and could lead to sewage overflow if not addressed promptly.
Karan Anand, another resident of the locality, said officials occasionally inspect the spot but the problem keeps returning. According to him, temporary cleaning drives take place from time to time, but a permanent solution is still missing.
Responding to the complaints, a Noida Authority official said that sanitation work in Sector 71 is carried out regularly. However, the official admitted that due to limited manpower, sweeping may sometimes be skipped in certain pockets.
SP Singh, General Manager (Health) at the Noida Authority, said the authority has taken note of the issue and is currently examining the situation. He assured that necessary steps would be taken and the sanitation problem would be addressed soon.
Residents, however, hope that authorities will implement consistent waste management and regular cleaning so that the sectors remain hygienic and free from garbage buildup.
