Noida: Frustration is mounting in Noida Sector 44 as over 15,000 residents continue to deal with repeated power outages and worsening civic infrastructure. Locals say the situation has persisted for months, affecting homes, senior citizens, and working professionals alike.
According to the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA), electricity cuts in Noida Sector 44 may be short at times but occur frequently enough to disturb daily routines. From work-from-home disruptions to inverter dependency and water supply interruptions, the impact is being felt across households.
RWA General Secretary Sudhir Sood stated that residents have formally written to the Noida power department’s chief engineer seeking immediate repairs. “We have been facing power cuts for the past couple of months. Although they are often brief, they disrupt daily life,” he said.
Beyond outages, infrastructure concerns in Noida Sector 44 have added to safety worries. Residents have pointed to rusted electrical panels with broken or damaged doors that require urgent replacement. In addition, three transformers in the sector have reportedly remained non-functional for a prolonged period, placing additional load on existing infrastructure.
Another pressing issue in Noida Sector 44 is nearly 7 to 8 kilometres of damaged underground cables that have not been repaired for years. During the monsoon season, matters worsen as the local substation becomes flood-prone, with water accumulation posing risks to equipment and raising fears of electrical hazards.
Residents say the condition of power infrastructure in Noida Sector 44 is not just an inconvenience but a potential safety threat, especially during heavy rainfall. Many families are now demanding a comprehensive inspection and long-term upgrade plan instead of temporary fixes.
Responding to the complaints, Chief Engineer of the power department, SK Jain, acknowledged the concerns and assured that the issues in Noida Sector 44 have been noted and will be addressed soon. However, residents say they are looking for concrete timelines and swift action.
As Noida continues to grow as a major residential and commercial hub, locals believe established sectors like Noida Sector 44 deserve reliable infrastructure that matches the city’s development standards.
