Afcons Infrastructure Ltd has secured a major road infrastructure contract in Uganda valued at over €100 million, marking another important step in the company’s growing footprint across Africa. The project, funded by a multilateral development agency, is expected to play a key role in improving regional connectivity and supporting local economic activity.

The latest win aligns with Afcons’ export-led growth strategy, which focuses on expanding international operations while delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure projects. Company officials said the new contract reinforces Afcons’ long-term commitment to Africa, where demand for modern transport networks continues to rise.

The Uganda road project will be executed under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) framework, meaning Afcons will handle everything from design and material sourcing to construction and final delivery. Such turnkey contracts allow governments to work with a single partner while ensuring timely completion and quality control.

Afcons Infrastructure Ltd is the flagship engineering and construction arm of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and brings more than six decades of experience in delivering technologically complex projects in India and overseas. Its portfolio spans highways, bridges, marine works, metros, and urban infrastructure.

On the global stage, Afcons continues to strengthen its reputation. According to the latest Engineering News-Record (ENR) rankings, the company features among the world’s top 140 international contractors, placing 12th in bridge construction and 8th in marine and ports—an indication of its technical depth and international competitiveness.

Industry observers note that projects like the Uganda road contract highlight a broader trend of Indian infrastructure firms expanding into emerging markets, supported by multilateral funding and rising investment in transport corridors. For Afcons, the latest award not only adds to its international order book but also underscores its role in building sustainable infrastructure that supports regional development across Africa.
