  • Direct air-cargo access to boost agri exports

  • Project backed by World Bank and UP government funding

Noida: A Karnataka-based company, Innova Food Park, is set to establish a 30-acre agriculture export hub near the upcoming Noida International Airport, giving a major push to agri-processing and exports in western Uttar Pradesh.

The proposed facility will come up in Sector 24A of Yamuna City and will function as an integrated food park offering processing, testing, grading, and packaging of agricultural produce such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. The produce will be supplied to domestic markets and exported internationally.

Officials said the company already operates a similar food park in Karnataka and plans to replicate the model in Uttar Pradesh to strengthen farm-to-market infrastructure. The project is expected to benefit farmers from multiple districts in western UP by improving access to modern processing and export facilities.

Recently, Ravindra Kumar, Principal Secretary of the state agriculture department, along with company representatives, visited Yamuna City to inspect the proposed site. During the visit, officials from Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority briefed the delegation on connectivity and infrastructure, including road, rail, and air links.

According to R K Singh, the company has expressed readiness to set up its production unit in the YEIDA region and has sought 30 acres of land for the project. The proximity to the airport’s cargo terminal will allow direct exports of agricultural produce to global markets, significantly reducing logistics time and costs.

The export hub, headquartered in Karnataka’s Kolar district, is part of the ‘Agriculture Growth and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening Project’, supported by the World Bank and the Uttar Pradesh government. The project received state cabinet approval in July last year following a World Bank review and is being funded in a 70:30 ratio between the World Bank and the state government.

The food park will also be eligible for incentives under Uttar Pradesh’s FDI/FCI and Fortune 500 Companies Investment Promotion Policy, 2023. These incentives include a 75% front-end land subsidy, full stamp duty exemption, a 50% capital subsidy linked to promoter investment, and a two-year electricity duty exemption. Officials said the incentives will be financed through the state coordination department’s budget.

In terms of infrastructure, the facility will feature cold chain systems and a gamma radiation unit, helping extend the shelf life of perishable produce. This will enable farmers to store crops longer, reduce wastage, and secure better prices by accessing both domestic and export markets.

Officials believe the project will play a key role in promoting agro-based industries, improving export readiness, and positioning the region around Noida International Airport as a major agri-export hub.
