Greater Noida Begins Land Acquisition for Airport-Linked Road Projects

Greater Noida: In a significant step toward improving airport-led connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Greater Noida Authority has started the land acquisition process for two major road infrastructure projects linked to the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar.

The initiative is aimed at closing critical access gaps and preparing the region’s transport network for the expected rise in passenger and cargo movement once the airport becomes operational. Officials say the new corridors will play a key role in easing traffic pressure while ensuring faster, more reliable access between Greater Noida, industrial zones, and national highways.

NH-91 Link to Improve Commercial Connectivity

One of the proposed projects involves a 105-metre-wide road that will connect the Alpha-1 Commercial Belt directly with National Highway-91 (NH-91). This stretch is expected to significantly enhance access between Greater Noida’s commercial hubs and the existing highway network.

Urban planners note that the corridor will help decongest internal city roads, reduce travel time for daily commuters, and improve freight movement between industrial and commercial areas. Once operational, the road is likely to become a key artery for business traffic moving toward Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, and other eastern NCR zones.

Second Corridor to Link YEIDA and Airport Zone

The second project focuses on a 130-metre-wide road designed to connect Greater Noida with areas under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), located close to the Noida International Airport site.

This road is planned as a dedicated access route for airport-bound traffic, logistics operators, and industrial movement. Officials say it will support the rapid development of industrial parks, logistics hubs, and commercial zones emerging around the airport influence area.

With freight and cargo operations expected to be a major component of the Jewar airport ecosystem, the road is being designed to handle high-capacity vehicular movement, including heavy commercial traffic.

Consent-Based Land Acquisition Process

According to authority officials, land acquisition is being carried out with the consent of affected farmers, in line with government guidelines. To streamline the process, dedicated camps will be organised for documentation, compensation disbursement, and grievance redressal.

The authority aims to complete the acquisition without prolonged disputes, ensuring that construction timelines remain on track. If the process progresses as planned, construction work is expected to begin in 2026.

Boost to NCR-Wide Connectivity

Once completed, the two road projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity between Greater Noida and major NCR cities, including Noida, Delhi, Gurugram, and Hapur. The corridors will also integrate with existing expressways and planned multimodal transport hubs, strengthening the region’s overall mobility framework.

Urban development experts believe these projects will not only serve airport traffic but also improve daily commuting patterns and support long-term economic activity in western Uttar Pradesh.

Part of a Larger Airport Infrastructure Push

The road projects form part of a broader infrastructure drive around the Noida International Airport, which has triggered multiple expressway, road, and logistics developments across the region.
