Protest against proposed maintenance fee hike starting January 1
Greater Noida: Anger is mounting among residents of Gaur City-2’s 14th Avenue in Greater Noida West as protests against the builder management entered the second consecutive day. On Sunday, residents held a peaceful demonstration by reciting Sunderkand, expressing dissatisfaction over inadequate facilities despite rising maintenance charges.
According to residents, the society comprises 20 towers with nearly 4,800 apartments, home to more than 3,500 families. They allege that essential services have been steadily reduced, while the management has proposed an increase in maintenance fees effective January 1.
Local residents Ramveer Singh Chauhan and Anil stated that basic amenities promised at the time of possession are still missing. They pointed out serious concerns such as poor parking management, non-functional fire safety sprinklers, lack of proper park maintenance, and insufficient security arrangements within the premises.
The protest began on Saturday with residents setting up a tent inside the society complex. On Sunday, they continued their agitation in a symbolic and peaceful manner by reciting Sunderkand, demanding immediate attention from the builder management.
Residents have made it clear that increasing maintenance charges without first addressing long-pending infrastructure and safety issues is unacceptable. They have warned that the protest will continue until concrete action is taken to restore basic facilities.
