MCD Launches ‘Suniyo 2.0’ Property Tax Amnesty Scheme, Waives Old Dues
MCD’s Suniyo 2.0 scheme allows Delhi property owners to settle eligible tax dues for eight financial years and receive relief from older interest and penalties.

- Scheme covers property tax dues from 2019-20 to 2026-27.
- Eligible older dues, interest and penalties can be waived after prescribed payment.
- Taxpayers can apply from September 29 to December 31, 2026.
Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has introduced the ‘Suniyo 2.0 – One Plus Seven’ property tax amnesty scheme for 2026-27, offering Delhi property owners an opportunity to settle eligible outstanding tax liabilities with relief from certain older dues, interest and penalties.
The scheme opened on September 29, 2026, and will remain available until December 31, 2026. Under the initiative, taxpayers are required to pay the principal property tax for the current financial year, 2026-27, along with the principal dues for the previous seven years, covering 2019-20 to 2025-26.
Once taxpayers clear the prescribed property tax amount for all eight financial years, dues relating to periods before 2019-20, along with applicable interest and penalties, can be waived under the scheme’s terms and conditions.
MCD has also introduced a part-payment option for taxpayers whose total tax liability is ₹5 lakh or more. Eligible taxpayers can pay the required amount in equal instalments during the scheme period, subject to the conditions prescribed by the civic body.
The scheme also provides an opportunity to correct errors in property tax assessments. Taxpayers can seek rectification within two months or before December 31, 2026, whichever comes earlier.
Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi has urged property owners to take advantage of the amnesty scheme and settle their eligible dues before the deadline. The MCD has also established a dedicated taxpayer helpline at +91-7065064988 to assist people with queries related to the scheme.
Taxpayers involved in property tax disputes before courts can also opt for the scheme. However, they will need to submit the required undertaking and withdraw the pending litigation in accordance with the scheme’s conditions.
The initiative could help property owners with long-pending tax liabilities resolve older dues under a defined settlement mechanism. By linking relief on pre-2019-20 dues to payment of the prescribed tax for the eight covered financial years, the MCD aims to encourage taxpayers to regularise their property tax accounts.
The part-payment facility may also provide additional flexibility to taxpayers with liabilities of ₹5 lakh or more.
The MCD is conducting taxpayer facilitation camps through its zonal offices to increase awareness and help property owners complete the process. These camps are being organised in coordination with resident welfare associations, group housing societies, market associations, chambers of commerce and trade bodies.
Property owners seeking to use the scheme should review their tax records, check their eligibility and complete the required payment or correction process before December 31, 2026.
