Prayagraj Property Tax OTS Scheme Starts from August 15
Prayagraj property owners with pending house, water, and sewer tax dues can clear outstanding payments in instalments under the OTS scheme, offering relief while improving municipal tax collection.

- OTS scheme will run from August 15 to December 15.
- Property owners can pay pending dues in three instalments.
- PMC aims to recover ₹40–50 crore in unpaid property taxes.
Prayagraj: Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) will roll out a One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme for property tax defaulters from August 15 to December 15. The initiative will allow eligible property owners to clear pending house tax, water tax, and sewer tax dues in easy instalments.
The scheme, approved by the Uttar Pradesh government, is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of defaulters while helping the civic body recover long-pending revenue.
Under the scheme, applications will be accepted between August 15 and November 14. After applying, property owners must pay 30% of their outstanding dues within one month as the first instalment. The remaining balance can then be paid in two additional instalments.
However, the benefits offered under the OTS scheme will only be available after the applicant deposits the third and final instalment.
Speaking about the initiative, PMC Chief Tax Assessment Officer Sanjay Mamgai said the civic body has decided to implement the state government’s OTS scheme for eligible property owners in Prayagraj. He said the scheme will help taxpayers clear their dues without paying the full amount at once, while also strengthening the municipal corporation’s revenue collection.
The scheme is expected to benefit a large number of defaulters. PMC has over four lakh properties spread across its 100 wards, but only around 2.5 lakh property owners regularly pay taxes. According to municipal records, nearly 90,000 property owners have not paid any house tax so far, resulting in pending dues estimated at ₹40–50 crore.
Officials believe the instalment-based payment option will encourage more residents to clear their outstanding liabilities.
The civic body will begin accepting applications from August 15, and eligible property owners are advised to submit their applications before November 14 to take advantage of the scheme.
The OTS programme will remain in effect until December 15, after which normal recovery procedures are expected to continue for unpaid dues.
