Ghaziabad: Hundreds of families moved a step closer to owning a home as the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) conducted the lottery draw for 477 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) flats under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) on Wednesday.
The draw was held for Pratap Vihar Scheme No. 923-41D at Hindi Bhawan, Lohia Nagar, giving eligible applicants a fair opportunity to secure affordable housing. The allotment is significant as it supports the government’s mission of providing affordable homes to economically weaker families.
Along with the main draw, GDA also conducted a separate lottery for 47 flats under the waiting list. The event witnessed the participation of a large number of applicants and their family members, who gathered to witness the process. The auditorium remained filled with excitement as the names of successful applicants were announced, with many celebrating the long-awaited achievement of owning a home.

The lottery was conducted in the presence of the Additional District Magistrate (City), Additional Secretary of GDA, Finance Controller, Special Duty Officer, and the DUDA Project Officer. According to GDA officials, the entire allotment process followed the prescribed guidelines and was carried out with complete transparency and fairness, allowing applicants to witness every stage of the draw.
The successful allotment is expected to provide affordable and secure housing to hundreds of economically weaker families. Several beneficiaries expressed their happiness after being selected, saying the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has made the dream of homeownership possible for people who had been waiting for years.
GDA officials said the authority remains committed to developing quality affordable housing projects under the PM Awas Yojana. They added that future housing schemes will continue to be implemented transparently, fairly, and within the scheduled timelines to benefit more eligible families across Ghaziabad.
