Residents of Lotus Zing Society in Noida Face Water Shortage for Five Days

Noida: Residents of Lotus Zing Society in Noida have been struggling to access water for the past five days. The prolonged shortage has affected nearly 1,000 flats, forcing families to rely on water tankers and alternative arrangements to meet their basic daily requirements.

Located near the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, Lotus Zing is one of the city’s prominent residential societies. However, for nearly a week, residents have been dealing with an unprecedented water crisis that has impacted everything from drinking water availability to cooking, bathing, cleaning, and sanitation.

According to residents, the situation has become increasingly difficult with each passing day. Many families have reported waking up early and waiting in long queues whenever water tankers arrive. Several residents claim that tanker supply is not enough to meet the demands of such a large residential community.

The shortage has disrupted daily life across the society. Working professionals say they are spending valuable time arranging water instead of focusing on their jobs. Some residents have reportedly started visiting relatives or friends in nearby areas simply to take a shower or carry out essential household tasks before heading to work.

Families with elderly members and young children are among the worst affected. Residents say senior citizens are finding it particularly difficult to manage daily activities without a regular water supply. According to them, inadequate water pressure and faulty infrastructure have prevented sufficient water from reaching all towers within the society. As a result, many households have been forced to collect and store water in buckets whenever it becomes available.

The crisis has also raised questions about maintenance and preparedness. Residents have accused the maintenance agency and concerned authorities of failing to address the problem before it escalated. Many claim they have lodged multiple complaints over the past few days but have yet to receive a satisfactory long-term solution.

The dependence on water tankers has created additional challenges. Residents say crowds gather as soon as tankers enter the premises, leading to confusion and competition for limited water supplies. In a society housing over 3,000 people, tanker-based supply can only provide temporary relief and cannot replace a stable water distribution system.

Some families have reportedly chosen to temporarily move to hotels, guest houses, or relatives’ homes until the situation improves. Residents argue that such measures should not be necessary in a modern residential community where they regularly pay maintenance charges expecting uninterrupted essential services.

Meanwhile, society management and officials from the water department have attributed the issue to a malfunctioning reservoir motor and insufficient water supply. According to authorities, repair work on the faulty motor has already been completed and efforts are underway to restore normal water distribution across all towers.

Water Department official R.P. Singh stated that the technical fault has been rectified and regular water supply is expected to resume soon. He assured residents that steps are being taken to ensure water reaches all flats and that the situation will be normalized at the earliest.

While residents welcome the assurance, many are demanding a permanent solution rather than temporary fixes. They argue that recurring infrastructure failures can severely affect quality of life and that preventive maintenance measures must be strengthened to avoid similar crises in the future.

As the wait for full restoration continues, the incident has once again highlighted the importance of robust water infrastructure and efficient maintenance systems in large residential societies. For thousands of Lotus Zing residents, the hope now is that normal water supply returns quickly and that long-term corrective measures are implemented to prevent another such crisis.
