Greater Noida West: Homebuyers protest at Mahagun Mywoods against the builder over what they describe as severe negligence in maintenance and basic services. The demonstrations, ongoing through April 2026, highlight growing frustration among homebuyers who claim they are paying regular maintenance charges but receiving inadequate facilities in return.

In recent days, residents have intensified their protests by gathering at society gates, raising slogans, and restricting entry and exit to draw attention to their grievances. Many residents say the situation has reached a tipping point, with everyday living conditions becoming increasingly difficult and, in some cases, unsafe.

One of the most pressing concerns raised by residents is the frequent malfunctioning of lifts across multiple towers. According to several residents, lift breakdowns are not isolated incidents but recurring problems that have persisted for months. This has caused serious inconvenience, especially for elderly residents, children, and families living on higher floors. In some cases, residents have described the situation as life-threatening, citing instances where lifts stopped abruptly or remained non-functional for extended periods.

Apart from lift issues, security arrangements in the society have also come under scrutiny. Residents allege that the number of security guards is insufficient for a project of this scale, raising concerns about safety and monitoring within the premises. With increasing reports of unauthorized entries and weak surveillance, many families say they no longer feel secure within their own residential complex.

Another major issue highlighted during the protests is the poor condition of essential infrastructure, particularly the sewage treatment system. Residents claim that improper sewage management has led to hygiene problems, foul smells, and an overall decline in living standards. Despite repeated complaints, they allege that no long-term solution has been implemented by the builder or maintenance authorities.

Adding to the tension are reports of pending electricity dues, which residents claim have reached approximately ₹96 lakh. This has created anxiety among homeowners, who fear potential disruption in power supply despite having paid their individual bills and maintenance charges on time. Residents argue that such financial mismanagement should not impact basic services for those living in the society.

The protests at Mahagun Mywoods are not a one-time occurrence but part of an ongoing movement that has been building since 2025. Over the past year, residents have repeatedly raised complaints regarding maintenance quality, infrastructure gaps, and accountability from the builder. However, the lack of visible improvement has led to stronger and more organized demonstrations in 2026.
