  • Interchange to improve access to the 5.5-km Bhangel Elevated Road.
  • Nearly four lakh residents expected to benefit from smoother traffic.

Noida: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a Rs 67.81 crore cloverleaf interchange at Pillar No. 59 (Barola T-Point) on the Bhangel Elevated Road. The new traffic interchange will provide direct entry and exit to the 5.5-kilometre six-lane elevated corridor, making travel easier for thousands of daily commuters. The project is important because it addresses a long-standing demand from local residents and is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in the area.

The cloverleaf interchange will connect commuters to the Bhangel Elevated Road, which stretches from Sector 40 Agahpur to Sector 82 NSEZ. Although the elevated road, built at a cost of Rs 608 crore, was opened to traffic in November last year, the absence of a loop at Barola T-Point prevented many residents from accessing it directly. The new interchange is expected to be completed within two years and will improve connectivity for sectors and villages located along the route.

The demand for an entry and exit loop at Barola T-Point had been raised by residents ever since construction of the elevated road began in June 2020. To open the corridor as early as possible, the Noida Authority first completed the main structure and later planned the additional interchange. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formally launched the construction work by laying the foundation stone for the project on Saturday.

Once completed, the cloverleaf interchange is expected to benefit around three lakh residents living in 49 housing societies across Sectors 74 to 79, along with nearly one lakh residents of 29 societies in Sectors 101, 104, 107, 119, 120 and 121. Improved connectivity will also help residents of Sectors 42, 47, 48 and 49, as well as the villages of Hajipur, Barola and Salarpur. The project is also expected to ease traffic pressure on Dadri Road and Vishwakarma Road.

Construction work on the cloverleaf interchange will now begin, with completion targeted within the next two years. After it becomes operational, motorists will be able to enter and exit the elevated road from the middle section of the corridor, reducing travel time, improving traffic flow, and making the Bhangel Elevated Road more accessible for lakhs of commuters.
