Noida: The Uttar Pradesh government has proposed developing a dedicated ‘Singapore City’ near the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, to strengthen international investment and industrial cooperation.

The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and a 14-member delegation of Singaporean industrialists and investors in Lucknow on Wednesday. The initiative is expected to create new investment opportunities and accelerate economic development around the airport region.

The delegation, led by Singapore Business Federation (SBF) Chairman Mark Lee, showed interest in exploring investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh across several high-growth sectors. These include multimodal logistics, warehousing, semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, data centres, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and hospitality.

Before meeting the Chief Minister, the delegation also visited industrial areas in Noida and Greater Noida to assess the region’s infrastructure and business environment.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, the proposed development will focus on building cooperation between Singapore’s technological capabilities and Uttar Pradesh’s industrial potential.

The state government has identified several priority areas, including semiconductor fabrication, electronics manufacturing, data centres, AI-based services, solar energy, green hydrogen, waste management and water recycling. Multimodal logistics and warehousing are also expected to form an important part of the proposed cooperation, particularly given the strategic importance of the upcoming Noida International Airport.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s position in India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem. He stated that the state accounts for approximately 55% of the country’s total mobile phone production and 60% of electronic component manufacturing.

During their visit, members of the Singapore delegation toured industrial developments across Noida and Greater Noida. Officials said the investors appreciated the state’s infrastructure, business-friendly environment and policies aimed at attracting domestic and international companies.

The delegation also showed interest in several major developments in the region, including the proposed Film City, Toy Park, Apparel Park, Medical Devices Park and the upcoming semiconductor cluster in Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region.

The visit follows Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s earlier trip to Singapore, which aimed to strengthen economic partnerships and attract foreign investment into Uttar Pradesh.

During the interaction, Adityanath referred to Singapore’s transformation as an example of how long-term planning, efficient governance and effective resource utilisation can drive economic progress.

He cited the vision of Singapore’s founding leader, the late Lee Kuan Yew, and said that a country’s global position depends not simply on its geographical size but also on its vision, efficiency and ability to utilise available resources.

The Chief Minister also highlighted India’s economic transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past 12 years, noting the country’s emergence as a stronger and more resilient economy.

The proposed Singapore City could strengthen the investment ecosystem around Noida International Airport, particularly across the Yamuna Expressway region. The development may create opportunities for industrial units, technology companies, logistics operators and businesses connected to international trade.

The focus on semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, data centres and clean energy could also support the emergence of a more diversified industrial hub in the region. Additionally, investments in logistics and warehousing may benefit from improved airport connectivity and the surrounding industrial infrastructure.

The proposed Singapore City is currently at the planning and investment-discussion stage. Further details regarding its exact location, land allocation, project size, development timeline and investment commitments are yet to be announced.

The next steps are expected to involve identifying suitable development areas, finalising investment partnerships and defining the framework for cooperation between Singaporean businesses and the Uttar Pradesh government. Any confirmed project details will be important in determining the scale and timeline of the proposed development.
