Total Noida-Greater Noida Metro network to expand to 61.62 km
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Narendra Modi, has approved the much-awaited Noida Metro Extension from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden, marking a major step forward in urban connectivity for Noida and Greater Noida.
The approved corridor will stretch 11.56 kilometres and include eight elevated stations, significantly expanding the existing Noida Metro network. Once operational, the combined metro network across Noida and Greater Noida will cover 61.62 kilometres, strengthening public transport infrastructure in the region.
Seamless Connectivity to Major Lines
One of the most significant aspects of the Noida Metro Extension is the direct interchange facility at Botanical Garden. The corridor will connect commuters to the Blue Line and Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, offering smoother travel to Delhi and other NCR locations.
This integration is expected to reduce dependency on road transport and cut travel time for daily commuters, office-goers, and students.
Linking Commercial and Educational Hubs
The Noida Metro Extension aims to integrate key commercial districts, residential sectors, and educational institutions along the route. Areas near Sector 142, Sector 93, and surrounding business zones are likely to witness improved accessibility.
In addition, the corridor will enhance connectivity to popular public spaces such as the Botanical Garden and Sector-93 Park, boosting tourism and recreational travel within the city.
Boost to Economy and Real Estate
Infrastructure experts believe the Noida Metro Extension will act as a catalyst for economic growth. Improved metro access typically drives higher property demand, commercial activity, and job opportunities along the corridor.
The government stated that the extension will stimulate economic activity, ease urban mobility, and enhance overall quality of life for residents. Reduced traffic congestion and lower vehicle emissions are also expected to deliver environmental benefits.
A Transformative Step for Noida
Urban planners describe the Noida Metro Extension as a strategic move to address growing traffic pressure and future-proof the city’s infrastructure. By connecting high-demand corridors and expanding the metro footprint, the project lays the foundation for sustainable urban development.
With Cabinet approval now in place, the Noida Metro Extension is set to reshape daily commuting patterns and strengthen Noida’s position as one of NCR’s fastest-growing urban centres.
