Noida Sector 56 Residents Report Water Shortage for Nearly Two Weeks
Residents of Sector 56, Noida, allege prolonged water shortages and low supply pressure, forcing families to rely on private tankers as the Noida Authority cites maintenance work.

- Noida Sector 56 Residents claim the water shortage has continued for nearly a fortnight.
- Around 10,000 people live in Sector 56, according to residents.
- Noida Authority officials say the disruption is linked to annual Ganga water supply maintenance.
Noida: Residents of Sector 56 in Noida have raised concerns over an ongoing water shortage, alleging that households have struggled to receive an adequate supply for nearly two weeks. Even when water reaches homes, residents say the pressure remains too low to meet everyday needs. The issue has affected domestic activities and prompted some families to purchase water from private tankers.
Sector 56 has an estimated population of around 10,000 people, according to residents. Members of the local Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) claim they have repeatedly approached the Noida Authority for a solution, but the situation has continued. Residents also shared complaint messages sent to authority officials on October 15 and again on Thursday, seeking urgent intervention.
Sanjay Mavi, president of the Sector 56 RWA, said families have been forced to arrange alternative water supplies to manage their daily requirements. He expressed concern that residents continue to face difficulties accessing a basic necessity despite living in a developed urban area.
According to Mavi, the problem is not limited to a complete interruption in supply. Low water pressure has also made it difficult for households to collect sufficient water when the supply is available.
Another resident, Jitendra Kumar, described how the disruption had affected routine household work. He said that during the festive season, his family struggled to manage basic chores, including laundry. Kumar even visited his daughter’s home in Sector 93 over the weekend with clothes that needed washing because his household did not have enough water.
He also said he had arranged repairs to his home’s water pipes, hoping to improve the supply, but the effort did not resolve the problem.
Ashok Verma, senior manager at the Noida Authority’s Jal Board, said the disruption was linked to scheduled maintenance of the Ganga water supply system. He explained that the supply is halted for approximately 15 to 29 days annually for maintenance work, which can temporarily affect availability.
Verma said the Ganga water supply was stopped on October 20 and maintained that the current problem had lasted only a few days, contradicting residents’ claims that the shortage began nearly a fortnight earlier. He acknowledged the complaints and said the situation was expected to be resolved soon.
The disruption has created difficulties for families that depend on regular municipal water for cooking, cleaning, bathing and other essential activities. Reliance on private tankers can also add unexpected expenses for residents, particularly when supply problems continue for several days.
The situation highlights the importance of timely communication between local authorities and residents during scheduled maintenance. Clear information about interruptions, alternative supply arrangements and expected restoration times could help households prepare and reduce inconvenience.
Residents are seeking a lasting resolution to the shortage and improvements in water pressure. The Noida Authority’s Jal Board has indicated that the disruption should be resolved soon, although a specific restoration timeline was not provided in the supplied report.
Residents will be looking for the regular supply to resume and for water pressure to return to adequate levels. If the problem continues, the authority may need to examine whether maintenance-related interruptions alone explain the difficulties reported by households.
