Residents of Cleo County in Noida’s Sector 121 have protested an alleged 40% maintenance increase, questioning its retrospective application and warning over possible electricity disconnection.

- Residents allege a nearly 40% increase in monthly maintenance charges.
- The revised charges are reportedly being applied retrospectively from April 2026.
- Residents have sought clarity on the calculation and use of maintenance funds.
Noida: Residents of Cleo County in Sector 121, Noida, gathered on the night of August 31, 2026, to protest against an alleged sharp increase in monthly society maintenance charges by the builder. According to residents, the charges have been raised by around 40% without adequate explanation, even as concerns over the condition of some society infrastructure continue to grow.
The dispute intensified after residents were reportedly informed late on August 30 that the revised maintenance charges would be applied retrospectively from April 2026. Residents said the increased amount for more than five months could be recovered from their maintenance accounts by September 1.
They have questioned why the hike was introduced and have sought a detailed explanation of the revised charges and the basis for the increase.
According to the residents, the maintenance operations at Cleo County are handled by CCMS, a group company associated with the County Group. Residents have also raised concerns that insufficient funds in their accounts could potentially result in electricity being disconnected as part of the recovery process. The builder has not issued a public response to the allegations at the time of reporting.
The issue has attracted attention because Cleo County is among the prominent luxury residential communities in Noida. Residents argue that a substantial increase in recurring maintenance expenses should be accompanied by transparent calculations, proper communication and clarity regarding how maintenance funds are being utilised. The retrospective recovery of several months of increased charges has added to their concerns.
Residents are now seeking clarity from the builder and have urged the Noida Authority to examine the matter. Their key demands include an explanation for the maintenance hike, details supporting the revised charges and clarity on whether retrospective recovery is permissible. The dispute could also raise broader questions about transparency in maintenance billing and the rights of residents in builder-managed housing societies.
The matter is expected to depend on the response from the builder and any action taken by the relevant authorities. Until then, residents are continuing to seek a resolution and have called for the proposed recovery to be reviewed.
