In a landmark development that further solidifies Noida’s position as one of India’s most promising technology and industrial hubs, LG Corporation, the South Korean multinational conglomerate, has officially confirmed an investment of ₹1,000 crore for the establishment of a Global Research & Development (R&D) Centre in the city.

A high-level delegation from LG met with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NOIDA Authority on Monday to finalize plans related to the project’s logistics, development roadmap, and completion timeline. The meeting marked a significant milestone in LG’s long-term expansion strategy in India and underscored the growing confidence of global corporations in Noida’s dynamic business ecosystem.

As per official details, LG’s Global R&D Centre will be developed on a 27,129-square-meter industrial plot in Noida’s Phase-II area. The project is expected to create around 500 direct employment opportunities, offering a major boost to local job creation and skill development.

Key Investment Details:

  • Investment Value: ₹1,000 crore
  • Project Type: Global R&D Centre
  • Location: Phase-II Industrial Plot, Noida
  • Plot Area: 27,129 sq. m.
  • Employment Generation: Approx. 500 jobs

The upcoming facility will serve as a global innovation hub, focusing on advanced technologies, product design, and next-generation research in areas such as smart electronics, artificial intelligence, home automation, and sustainable energy solutions. By strengthening its R&D footprint in India, LG aims to develop products specifically suited for emerging markets, while also contributing to the global technology ecosystem.

The meeting between LG’s leadership team and the NOIDA CEO reportedly went smoothly, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to ensure the timely execution of the project. Discussions covered critical aspects such as land allotment, construction clearances, and infrastructure support required for the smooth establishment of the centre.

A senior NOIDA Authority official stated that the Authority will provide full administrative support and a conducive environment to help LG’s project progress efficiently. “The investment by LG reflects global confidence in Noida’s industrial ecosystem. It will strengthen the region’s innovation capabilities and contribute substantially to employment and local development,” the official said.

The project also aligns closely with India’s national goals of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Design in India’, encouraging global companies to not only manufacture but also conceptualize and innovate within the country. Noida, already a preferred base for several multinational firms, continues to attract top-tier investments due to its strategic location, superior infrastructure, and business-friendly policies.

The establishment of LG’s Global R&D Centre is expected to provide significant economic benefits to Noida and the broader NCR region. Apart from generating 500 direct employment opportunities, the project will also create indirect jobs through ancillary industries, construction, facility management, and supply chain operations.

Moreover, the development of such a large-scale, high-tech facility will likely attract further investments from LG’s global partners and suppliers, encouraging a ripple effect of technological advancement and industrial growth in the area.

Industry experts have lauded this investment as a strategic step in India’s journey toward becoming a global technology powerhouse. They note that the presence of international R&D centres not only enhances India’s research capabilities but also provides local engineers and researchers access to global best practices, advanced infrastructure, and international collaborations.

Over the past few years, Noida has witnessed rapid industrial transformation, attracting major names from sectors like electronics, manufacturing, IT, and renewable energy. LG’s announcement adds to a growing list of multinational corporations investing in the region, reaffirming Noida’s reputation as a preferred destination for high-value, innovation-driven projects.

The project is seen as a symbol of strengthening Indo-Korean business relations and a reflection of LG’s faith in India’s growing consumer market and talent base. Once operational, the R&D Centre is expected to become a key contributor to LG’s global innovation pipeline, helping the company design products that meet the evolving needs of consumers worldwide.

With construction expected to begin soon after final approvals, this ₹1,000 crore investment stands as a major milestone in both LG’s India journey and Noida’s industrial advancement story — marking another chapter in the city’s rise as a technology-driven economic powerhouse.
