Noida: Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned ₹1,204 crore for land acquisition to develop a 74.3km access-controlled greenfield expressway that will directly connect the Ganga Expressway with the Yamuna Expressway and provide faster access to the upcoming Noida International Airport.

The funds, cleared with the Governor’s approval, have been released by the state’s Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department after a proposal from Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The amount has been earmarked in the 2025–26 financial year budget specifically for purchasing land within the notified area of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

How the Project Will Move Forward?

Officials confirmed that UPEIDA will act as the nodal agency for executing the project. Once YEIDA completes land acquisition within its jurisdiction and the Bulandshahr district administration finalises proceedings in its area, the acquired land will be handed over to UPEIDA. The authority will then undertake detailed design work, tendering, and construction, while ensuring integration with the existing expressway network.

The approval formalises the acquisition process first announced last year. Around 740 acres are expected to be acquired from 16 villages in Gautam Budh Nagar, while additional land will be taken from villages in Bulandshahr district. In total, land acquisition will cover 56 villages across two districts.

Route and Alignment Details?

The alignment has been finalised. The new corridor will begin at the 44.3km mark on the Ganga Expressway near Syana and merge with the Yamuna Expressway at the 24.8km point close to YEIDA Sector 21.

Nearly 20km of the route will pass through YEIDA’s notified area, including a 9km elevated stretch. Infrastructure plans include a 24-metre-wide service road in Yamuna City, two road overbridges, and several underpasses to ensure smooth traffic flow.

The new expressway is expected to significantly cut travel time for commuters from western Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Bulandshahr, Khurja, and Syana. It will also ease congestion along key industrial belts and improve cargo movement to the airport.

With stronger links to Agra, Greater Noida, and even the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the corridor is likely to boost industrial development, logistics operations, and real estate growth in the region.

The overall project cost is estimated at around ₹4,000 crore, making it one of the most strategic infrastructure initiatives supporting the growth of the upcoming international airport and the broader Yamuna City region.
