Rajpath Infracon Eyes New Guinness World Records on Amaravati–Bengaluru Highway

Two-time Guinness World Records holder Rajpath Infracon is set to attempt fresh global records on the Amaravati–Bengaluru Expressway, showcasing high-speed road construction capabilities in Andhra Pradesh this January.

  • Record attempt to build 5 km bituminous road within 24 hours

  • Plan to lay the longest continuous asphalt stretch in a single day

  • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expected to present Guinness certificates

Amaravati: Maharashtra-based Rajpath Infracon Private Limited, already recognised twice by Guinness World Records, is preparing for another ambitious engineering feat on the Amaravati–Bengaluru Expressway. The company is set to attempt two new world records between 5 and 6 January near Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh’s Sathya Sai district, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.

Company officials confirmed that the high-intensity construction exercise will commence at 8 am on January 5 and conclude the following morning. The first challenge involves constructing a 5-kilometre stretch of bituminous concrete road within just 24 hours, a task that demands precise coordination, continuous material supply, and round-the-clock execution.

Running parallel to this, Rajpath Infracon will attempt to set another global benchmark by laying the longest continuous bituminous or asphalt road in a single day. The operation is expected to consume nearly 7,500 metric tonnes of bitumen and asphalt, highlighting the scale and logistical complexity of the project.

Following the initial 24-hour record attempt, the company plans to extend its construction run until January 11, aiming to surpass its own earlier achievement. During this phase, Rajpath Infracon will attempt to beat its previous record of constructing 42.2 kilometres of continuous two-lane bituminous road, while also setting an additional benchmark using not less than 36,634 metric tonnes of construction material.

A formal ceremony is scheduled to take place in Puttaparthi on January 12, where Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari is expected to present the Guinness World Records certificates, should the attempts be validated.

Rajpath Infracon’s journey with global records began in May 2021, when the company successfully constructed 39.69 kilometres of asphalt road within 24 hours between Pusegaon and Mahasurne in Maharashtra’s Satara district. The achievement stood out not only for its speed but also for strict compliance with both state and central construction norms.

The company raised the bar further in June 2022, completing what remains its most demanding project to date—a continuous 84.4-kilometre bituminous concrete stretch between Amravati and Akola on National Highway-53. Executed under extreme conditions, the project saw 728 engineers and over 2,500 workers battling temperatures reaching 47°C in the Vidarbha region. Guinness officially recognised this effort as equivalent to building 42.2 kilometres of two-lane road in record time.

Industry experts say such record attempts underscore India’s growing technical capabilities in large-scale infrastructure delivery. If successful, the latest Amaravati–Bengaluru Expressway feat will further cement Rajpath Infracon’s reputation as a global leader in high-speed road construction.
