Greater Noida Authority Sets March 31 Deadline for ₹270 Crore Water Dues
GNIDA urges over 29,000 defaulters to clear pending water bills before March 31, warning of interest penalties and possible disconnections from April as outstanding dues touch ₹270 crore.

- ₹270 crore water dues pending across Greater Noida
- Over 29,000 connections yet to clear outstanding bills
- Supply disconnection and interest penalties likely after March 31
Greater Noida: Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has announced March 31 as the final deadline for clearing pending water dues, with strict action planned against defaulters from April 1.
According to officials, unpaid bills amounting to nearly ₹270 crore are still pending across the city. Out of more than 51,000 water connections, over 29,000 consumers have not cleared their dues despite repeated reminders.
Authorities have warned that if payments are not made within the current billing cycle, the outstanding amount will attract penal interest for the entire financial year 2026–27. Additionally, water supply connections may also face disconnection from April onwards.
A major share of the dues comes from builder group housing societies, with around 92 projects collectively owing nearly ₹150 crore. Apart from these, defaulters include more than 28,000 individual residential properties, along with industrial units, institutional establishments, IT companies, and commercial properties.
Officials said that enforcement had been relaxed earlier to avoid inconvenience to residents, especially those living in group housing societies. However, continued non-payment has started affecting the sustainability of the water supply system.
GNIDA Additional CEO Sumit Yadav emphasized that maintaining water infrastructure depends on timely payments. He urged allottees and residents to clear their dues before the deadline to avoid penalties and service disruptions.
To make the process easier, GNIDA has enabled online bill checking and payment options through its official portal. Consumers with updated KYC details have already received alerts via SMS and email. Residents can also contact the water department for any assistance related to pending dues.
What Residents Should Do?
Residents and property owners are advised to:
- Check pending dues immediately on the GNIDA portal
- Clear outstanding bills before March 31
- Avoid penalties and disruption in water supply
This move signals a stricter approach by the authority to improve revenue collection and ensure uninterrupted water services across Greater Noida.
