Yogi Govt Approves 710m Six-Lane Underpass on FNG Corridor to Ease Noida Traffic

A new six-lane underpass on the FNG corridor aims to streamline regional traffic, reduce congestion in Noida, and improve connectivity between major highways and surrounding NCR cities.

  • 710-metre underpass planned to reduce congestion at Parthala junction
  • Regional traffic to be diverted from city roads to FNG corridor
  • Additional flyover and road widening also proposed for smoother flow

Noida: Uttar Pradesh government has approved a 710-metre-long six-lane underpass along the FNG (Faridabad–Noida–Ghaziabad) corridor. The project is aimed at easing congestion within Noida by diverting through-traffic away from internal city roads.

Once operational, the underpass will allow vehicles travelling between key cities such as Delhi, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Meerut, Agra, and Greater Noida to remain on the FNG corridor instead of entering crowded urban stretches. This is expected to significantly reduce traffic pressure at major intersections.

The project was designed by DIMTS for Noida Authority’s Work Circle Six and will soon be placed before CEO Krishna Karunesh for final clearance. Following approval, the project will move into technical and financial stages, including budgeting and contractor selection. Officials have indicated that construction will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption for daily commuters.

Traffic assessments at the busy Parthala roundabout have already highlighted the need for such infrastructure upgrades. Authorities noted that congestion levels are likely to rise sharply once the FNG corridor becomes fully functional, as current traffic remains limited due to incomplete stretches. The underpass is being planned as a long-term solution to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement beneath key junctions.

From a connectivity perspective, the project is expected to benefit commuters travelling from Soharkha and Phase 2 areas towards the Delhi-Meerut Expressway via Chhijarsi. It will also improve movement between Parthala bridge and Kisan Chowk, while offering a smoother route for those accessing NH-9 near Chhijarsi through the Bisrakh bridge alignment.

In addition to the underpass, authorities are also focusing on broader infrastructure upgrades in the region. Plans include widening key connecting roads between NH-9 and Noida, along with a proposed 640-metre flyover near Chhijarsi on the FNG corridor.

Together, these developments are expected to transform traffic management in the region by reducing bottlenecks, improving travel times, and enhancing connectivity across major NCR routes. For daily commuters and long-distance travellers alike, the project promises a more efficient and predictable driving experience.
