Mumbai’s Madh Island has added another prominent name to its list of property owners. According to property documents reviewed by real estate analytics firm Liases Foras, Agam Kumar Nigam — father of singer Sonu Nigam — has acquired a property in the coastal neighbourhood for Rs 10 crore.
The purchase reportedly covers a 1,197-square-metre plot within Suchak Cooperative Housing Society Limited. The site houses a ground-plus-one-floor structure known as Mango Villa.
The built-up area includes a two-level commercial IT structure measuring around 2,329 sq ft, along with a 725 sq ft residential unit. The mix of commercial and residential space suggests flexibility for both business and personal use — a growing trend in Mumbai’s evolving property market.
The transaction was officially registered on February 18, 2026. Stamp duty of Rs 50 lakh was paid, along with a registration fee of Rs 30,000, as per documents accessed by Liases Foras.
The property was purchased from Swapna Kak and Rani Doshi (Verma), also known as Rani Amar Verma. Attempts to seek comments from the buyer and sellers did not receive a response at the time of reporting.
Agam Kumar Nigam is not only known as the father of acclaimed playback singer Sonu Nigam but is also a singer and stage performer himself. Over the years, he has participated in numerous live shows and cultural events and played a key role in nurturing his son’s early musical journey.
Sonu Nigam, too, has been active in Mumbai’s property market in recent years. In 2024, he purchased a commercial property in Andheri worth Rs 7 crore. In 2025, he reportedly leased a property in Santacruz East for five years, with total rental commitments exceeding Rs 12.61 crore — reflecting the family’s continued investment interest in Mumbai real estate.
Located near Malad and Versova, Madh Island has steadily transformed into a preferred residential address for celebrities seeking privacy without moving too far from the city’s entertainment hubs.
The broader Versova-Andheri belt has drawn several well-known personalities from the film and television industry, including Kartik Aaryan, Ronit Roy, Vivek Agnihotri, Sanjay Mishra, and Ayushmann Khurrana. Actors Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi are also known to own a bungalow in the area.
With its coastal charm, relative seclusion, and improving connectivity, Madh Island continues to attract high-profile buyers looking for a quieter alternative to Mumbai’s busier neighbourhoods.
